| MIDEH/AIR - Honduras

The MIDEH Project under EQUIP1 is an extension of the work carried out by American Institutes for Research under Component 1 (Standards, Evaluation Criteria and Testing) of the MIDEH-EQUIP2 Project as part of a consortium of US and Honduran organizations. The transfer of AIR activities from EQUIP2 to EQUIP1 responds to a change of emphasis from systems design and development to more overtly field-based implementation of systems. Development of systems continues to take place under Phase 2 but consolidates what has already been achieved while providing a systemic vision of implementation in the field, based on current theory on the relationship between content standards, instructional practices, and learning outcomes.
The following is a summary of achievements under component 1 of the MIDEH Project, led by AIR:
1. Definition of content standards and competencies in Spanish language and mathematics.
2. Development of standardized tests and testing system for Spanish language and mathematics.
3. Design of low cost and reliable test administration, scoring, and reporting strategies.
4. Integration of software for developing, banking, and retrieving test items, processing test data, and reporting results.
5. Implementation of a program of training activities.
6. Definition of strategies for testing students in non-traditional programs.
Strategy for the implementation of the new Honduran primary and secondary (K-9) curriculum (DCNB) in the classroom.
Strategy focuses on alignment of standards to all other elements in the system and assessment tools to evaluate achievement of standards to drive educational systemic reform in Honduras.
