Youth Participation
Haitian Out-of-School Youth Livelihood Initiative

IDEJEN ensures that youth participate throughout all phases of the project. For example:

  • Youth are trained to conduct community youth mapping activities within their respective zones. This allows them to better understand the situation of their peers and to identify existing opportunities.

  • Different project components are designed based on the expressed needs and wants of young people.

  • Certain youth work in the coordination of project activities, alongside an experienced Field Agent.

  • Youth mappers participate in the creation and implementation of activities for their peers.

  • Youth propose and develop community projects, such as the creation of socio-cultural centers and cyber-centers, to benefit their peers.

Haitian boys smile as they participate in an IDEJEN activity. Youth participation is key to the IDEJEN project.
