| Education Development Center (EDC)

Over the past four decades, Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) has managed education, health and nutrition, workforce development, women and girls development, and community empowerment projects in over 100 countries around the world. Many EDC projects have addressed issues of organizational and financial management capacity to implement education policy reform. EDC has considerable experience carrying out global education sector policy development and analysis:
- EDC designed and implemented a UNDP analysis of global education and
training trends.
- With support from USAID, EDC produced Compass for Workforce Development,
a toolkit of effective practices for use by workforce development policymakers and program planners around the world.
- Since 2000, EDC has provided guidance and technical direction to the Nigerian
Federal Ministry of Education and a consortium of the World Bank, USAID, UNESCO, UNICEF, and DfID on the design of a national baseline survey to reestablishthe education statistical information system. The project resulted in increased state-level capacity to provide data required for policy analysis, planning, and management.
- EDC conducted a series of USAID evaluation studies of basic education projects
in West Africa that analyzed the organizational issues affecting the implementation of basic education projects, the use of donor funds, and the quality and effectiveness of project financial management system: the Guinea PASE Limited Technical Assessment, mid-termand final evaluations of the Mali Basic Education Expansion.
