Teacher Trainings
TELL deployed the 288 Teacher Trainers (TOT), previously trained by the Master Trainers (MTs), to the various training venues across Ethiopia to carry out the teacher trainings.

Teacher Trainers trained a total of 19,121 6th, 7th and 8th grade English teachers in active-learning methods, effective classroom practices, basic literacy skills, and assessment techniques.

Similar to Master and Teacher Trainers, each teacher received six books (one of each of the textbooks and teachers’ guides on active teaching for grades 6, 7, and 8).

TELL‘s success in implementing such a large-scale teacher training activity was largely due TELL’s strong partnership and collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE) at the national and regional level. In each region, the Teacher Training activities where facilitated by the Ministry of Education’s Regional Education Bureaus (REB), who designed, implemented, and oversaw the training of teachers in their respective region with TELL’s support.

TELL’s Cascading Training Approach*:

TELL Cascading Model

* Piloting will occur in year 1 only.
