Primary Schools
Objective 2: Improve the quality of learning in primary schools so that students come adequately prepared to learn
Pupils that come to primary school unprepared to learn are at a disadvantage for making the most of their opportunities, and make the task of providing quality instruction difficult. Some of the factors that contribute to the low quality of learning in primary schools include:
- inadequate supply of teaching and learning materials and classroom facilities
- teachers' lack of confidence and ability in teaching
- unsatisfactory management of primary schools, which results in ineffective learning environments and;
- students are unprepared for school resulting in repetition, discouragement and dropout.
MKEZA's strategy to improve the quality of learning at the primary school level is clustered under four main components: 1) equipping primary schools with adequate teaching and learning materials; 2) enhancing teacher confidence and ability to practice quality teaching; 3) strengthening school management, and 4) facilitating early learning readiness.
