Problem: Classrooms are not set up in a way that promotes active learning and participatory methods

Activity: Schools refurbish Child Friendly Schools (CFS) classrooms in order to make them suitable to implement activities that promote active learning, as well as critical and creative thinking.

Emergency School Buildings / Intermediate Classrooms (ICRs)

More Information

Problem: Long distances to schools prevent some children from enrolling

Activity: Schools receive funds to construct temporary buildings that can be built quickly and at minimum cost in order to accommodate educational service in those areas that have none at all or for a particular grade. This intervention is intended as an intermediary measure until more permanent structures can be built.

School Latrines and Clean Water

More Information

Problem: Schools do not have adequate latrines and toilets or potable water

Activity: Schools build wells and toilets to facilitate attendance by young girls.


Resources Needed: Approximately $200 per toilet and $200 per well
