Communication with Parents and Community Meetings:    English    Khmer
1. Introduction

In order to discuss educational provision with the community schools organize meetings at least twice a year. Some of the topics discussed include: planning, the budget, activities progress, successes and areas for improvement. As well the school tries to encourage the community to get involved by asking what role they can see for themselves in supporting the school and the activities they have discussed. It is one way of communicating with parents and trying to foster school community partnerships.

4. Information on implementation

Schools organize meetings with the community at least twice a year. It is important that community members are given plenty of notice as to the time and place the meeting will be held. If possible it is also important for community members to assist with developing the agenda and that the agenda is made available (can be orally, or on the announcement board) to all who may wish to attend. In order to ensure community members have a voice at the meeting it is necessary for school personnel to provide them with lots of opportunities and encouragement to speak. If possible it might be beneficial to alternate holding the meetings in the community and school. It is also a good idea to have some of the older students attend the meeting.
