EDIFAM hosts and facilitates monthly meetings of the EDIFAM Committee, comprised of representatives from the Ministry of Education (MINED), Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS), the Salvadoran Institute for the Holistic Development of Children and Youth (ISNA), USAID, and UNICEF. The committee provides a forum for communication among these partners, all vital to early childhood care and education efforts in El Salvador, and promotes shared leadership among the partners by rotating responsibility for the direction of the meeting and for informational presentations to the other partners.

The EDIFAM Committee, through its own meetings and quarterly meetings with a High Ranking Steering Committee, has the goal of strengthening institutional capacity and providing improved planning for the provision of early childhood care and education in El Salvador.

2. Policy, research, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership development
Under the auspices of EDIFAM, Universidad Católica de Occidente (UNICO) completed a study of the scope, impact and quality of early childhood care and education services in El Salvador. At a recent Results Forum, the results of the study were presented to approximately 60 members of the community, including members of the relevant ministries, NGOs and universities working in early childhood issues. The results of the study and the continued monitoring and evaluation of the project will contribute to future policy decisions to improve the quality and impact of Salvadoran early childhood care and education services.

EDIFAM also works to develop partnerships between ISNA and relevant actors in the private and public sectors in order to develop opportunities to improve the coverage and quality of ECCE services.

3. Training
EDIFAM provides training to ISNA and MSPAS in adult training methodologies in order to improve the agencies' outreach to parents and caregivers. Additionally, EDIFAM is coordinating a series of twelve workshops that will enable ISNA to meet international quality standards.
