Community Radio Education Project to Mitigate the Multi-sector Impacts of HIV/AIDS in Zambia

Photo of a man conducting a radio broadcastThe radio program - Ku Mudzi Wangu: "In My Village" - will provide community-level education support to help increase the impact of the central government's support for provision of education in HIV/AIDS affected countries. "In My Village" will be developed on a pilot basis in the first two years, in eastern Zambia with the possibility of a trans-border application with Malawi. "In My Village" is proposed to have two components: a branded series of topical radio shows for village listening clubs to provide strategic, simple information on the selected topic, led by local community mentors trained and supported by a local NGO; and community grants administered by a local NGO to help selected village associations implement an activity based on a topic from the radio show.

The Educational Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP) is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development under the Cooperative Agreement #GDG-A-00-03-0006-00.
